Lineage II: 3rd Anniversary Review
It's been three years since the first player set foot in Aden and since then we've seen five Chronicles and an Interlude with whispers toward the first in the throne series: Kamael.
I've played a lot of MMO's and the first thing people say to me is: "How does this compare to other MMO games?" Well, that's a hard question to answer. This game is not meant to be played by the "mainstream" crowd. This is a game meant to be played by serious players. The ingame political climate surpasses any I've ever encountered and the graphics..I'm sorry..it just blows away any game out there to date.
Vault Staff Member, John "Loktofeit" Albano has played Lineage II since it went live. He shares with us his 3rd year review of the game.
Lineage 2 has come a long way, both in providing a challenging and diverse endgame for the player vs player crowd, and in making the game more accessible to a wider group of players. Lineage 2 was never for the feint of heart and it still remains that way, but over the past three years, the game has evolved to make it easier for the new player to get in the door and get a start on their path to becoming the next great hero of their server.
When Lineage 2 came out, it was a very deceiving game for North Americans. We had our pockets of penalty-fiending flagellates in EQ and sociopathic mass murderers in UO, but even those crowds were not prepared for what Lineage 2 was about to unleash in April of 2004. The trailers were enticing. Guild warfare with lots and lots of combat effects and, most importantly, some of the hottest and coolest looking characters to ever be offered up in an MMOG - all presented in truly stunning graphics.
