How to be a qualified thief in Silkroad Online

keywords:

Thieving is the biggest rush in the game for me, as well as for most people that have tried it. If you feel bad about killing someone don’t do it.

In this guide, I’m not going to teach you what to do, but I’m trying to tell you how to think in the situations a thief may face.
Supplies needed

Thief suit – there are 2 types, the 10k gold black suit, and the 1m gold black devil suit. There is no difference other than the look and the cost. They come in male and female, don’t forget to buy the correct gender, which can be purchased in thief town.

Bandit Den Return Scrolls – These are different than regular return scrolls. They take you to thief town. They also take approx 5 minutes to complete (you will get 3-4 thief spawns during that time). In addition you can move around and attack stuff while waiting. Make sure you have several as you may need to restart. They are purchased in thief town.

Transport – Some people like the horse as it’s agile, others prefer the camel as it holds more and has more HP. Which one to choose depends on what you want to do and the way of doing it.

Hunter Card – Yes hunter card, purchasable at the hunter guild merchant.

Transport Health Pills – 50-100 should be fine. Buy them at any stable, 3 sizes, the large do well on most transports, XL is great for Oxen.

Friends – Always have some around, while not necessary it sure helps. The higher level the better.

How to
There are a few ways to be a thief. It’s tough at lower levels (below 30). Make sure you can kill any monsters in the area where you are as well as your spawns. Initially I would recommend getting a group of thieves together to swarm multistar or even easier, find loot on the ground and take it. When you are low level you will want to hide with your loot while your scroll activates. Lastly know when to say when. 4 stars are tough to handle solo, 5 nearly impossible, take just what you can handle.

Here is a typical scenario. I see a bunch of loot (5+ stacks on the ground). I quickly scan the area for hunters (or angry merchants). I buff up and put on my suit and summon my transport. Please note that you cannot summon a transport within 20 second of combat. So if you are in an aggro area kill all of the monsters first. Dismount your transport and start left clicking the goods. Once you have them right click your bandit den return scroll and move away (I’ll go into this more later).

Scenario 2. I see what I believe is a multistar. First I scope their gear. I ask myself can I take them. Do I have zerk (helpful but not necessary)? If yes then proceed.

Move away (out of sight), buff, suit up and summon a transport (that stupid 20 second rule applies to attacking anything including traders). If you wait to summon a transport an opportunistic thief or a friend of the guy you killed may suit up and grab some or all of the loot first (remember that hunter card). If their level is close to mine I wait until their thieves spawn then I attack. Hit the biggest threat first then move to the next target. If they are close to a teleport area, take out their transport first. You have a choice, you can let their thieves kill the transport (saving arrange points) or you do it. I usually kill it as I want to get away fast. Kill their thieves last and then start grabbing loot. Now get away.

Note: You have a few choices here, kill the merchant or let them live. Usually they will attack you so your choice is made. However I also like to follow the rule “dead men tell no tales”. Kill them all, no rez, as they could follow you or lead hunters to you, thus spoiling your fun.

Getting away with the loot.
Ok now what? A lot of this answer depends on your attitude, level and number of friends with you. Before you even start thieving find some hiding spots. They are everywhere. They can range from a mountain, the water, a bush or tree, or even an out of the way grinding spot.

Take your booty, do not forget to activate your scroll, and leave the area. Do not start moving in the direction you really want to go unless you are really confident or in a big hurry. Misdirection is a key to not being found and killed. If possible have friends scout ahead and behind you. You can also have one distract a hunter that may be close by. Go to your favorite hiding spot and prepare to fight back the spawns (or any hunters/merchants that may come by).

As your scroll nears the last 30 – 45 seconds get on your transport. It has a lot of hp, so if you are attacked you may be able to survive better. If you have a 3 star or better it is advisable to have help. A double spawn with cold bladers will ruin your day. Also should you die your loot is hidden and you can go back. Some people will sit in the middle of the road waiting for other multistars so they can attack and fill their transport; this takes some guts, but can be effective. Once your scroll runs out, congratulations you are in thief town.

How to spot a multistar
One way is to stalk a trade and wait for thieves to spawn, if they get 2 it may be a 2 star, or a double spawn on a 1 star, the only way to tell is to watch for another or put on your suit.. Once you have your suit on you can double click a trader (or their transport). If you start attacking it’s a multistar, if you get a blue message about attacking a one star it’s a single. If you are stalking it is advisable to watch from behind, just out of sight of the trader, but keeping his transport in sight.

Thief Town
This is where you buy your thief suit, bandit den return scrolls and sell your loot. Loot is sold for face value. Selling loot erases Trader exp. There are 2 main NPCs, one that sells thief gear and another that buys loot. The other notable thing is the transporter. Using it is free and it brings you to your respawn point. I recommend taking off your thief suit before you teleport as it resets the cooldown timer. So basically get there, sell your loot, terminate your transport, desuit and teleport.

To get there the first time go to the red light district in Jangan and speak with Gisaeng Yumi and she’s around 6203, 993 on of the prostitutes who will offer to take you there for 2k.

Tips
Using any teleporter, or logging off will instantly reset your 10 minute cooldown for job suits. Use this to your advantage, especially if someone just took that load you killed for.

Friends in alternate job suits are nice to have. They kill the opportunistic thieves and get hunter exp for taking out your NPC spawns. If unsuited they can be ready for anything, like evening the odds if hunters appear or act as a general deterrent for hostility.

Hunters can kill you without penalty; you however get a penalty for killing them. This makes them more than a nuisance. If I find myself suited and a higher level hunter comes along (you really need to learn to estimate weapon and equipment levels by sight) I do not run away. Instead I’ll try to chat. Many times they won’t attack either because you could be pretending to be lower level, or there’s no sport in it. If you run, well that’s just fun for them. Worst case is they kill you and you lose a little exp and you lose the load.

Misc. questions/ comments
Can thieves spawn NPCs at will? Nope, it’s a random spawn just like traders.
If you die by hunter or merchant there is a chance to lose items (including what is equipped), it’s the same as if you died from a monster.
Taunting dead traders or hunters is bad form, many are already angry. Remember it’s a game and you are doing your job. Typically I am too focused to even read chat, let alone reply.

The down side – Arrange points
When you kill hunters or merchants or transports you get arrange points. Should you get 3000+ arrange points you will become wanted. That means anyone wearing a hunter suit can see that you are wanted and will probably attack you. They do this because they get a bonus for killing you. In addition when you are killed you will have to pay a fine to the hunter guild NPC. The fine at level 40 is around 60k and goes up with levels. After you desuit you will not be able to do any job for 3 hours.

Euro Party Guide in silkroad online

keywords:

REQUIREMENTS
1. At least 2 tanks
2.2 nukers, more is excess, if you can’t find a nuker, a xbow rogue works well.
3.at least 1 cleric
4.at least 1-2 bards
5.party members should be the same level of the party leader or within 4 levels of the party leader
6.Don’t move around, pick a place with a high spawn rate and stay there
7.1 warlock
GOAL
A.grind on mobs 9-11 levels above the average party level
B. have nuker/s, and healers mp/hp stand in 1 place; while tanks stand ahead of the main dmg/healing group
i. nuker/s should be in front of mp/hp healers
ii. Tank/s should be further out, close enough to be healed, but not close enough for healers to agro mobs
TANKS
tanks job: tanks MUST use taunt 2 lure mobs never charge or walk towards a mob.
i. make the mob come to you
ii never leave the tanking area
iii. if a mob heads for healers/nukers, it should be decided ahead of time which tank will taunt those mobs
iv. Keeping mobs distracted is top priority
v. always have backup NPC gear, just in case your gear gets damaged
vi. only use kb to protect healers/nukers!!
Tank Fighting Style
1.KD is something to be used in str parties, if you have a ton of rogues and warriors and maybe 1 support unit, or no support unit kd is a good thing, it buys you time to repot, and increases damage. if you are in a tight spot and under supported kd is ok because you’ll die other wise
2.KB
I.KB something very underestimated and very untaken advantaged of. I find if you kb something all the retarded other warriors and rogues will chase it to no end because they are just button mashing. KB is good to buy time, knock it away from your party and taunt it, and let all the wizzes dish out the pain and rebash it, no one gets hurt your DUR doesn’t go down as much and since I have my Vital increase anyways just letting it come back to me isn’t sparing it much damage. Now if you do KB and its in the middle of your group go in after it or it’ll hop agro, and KB again till its out of your group.

II.KB part 2. Very good to save some one, if you see something going towards one of your ints then KB it, you’ll most likely save them get the agro on you

III.KB part 3. Yes this skill is worth 3 parts, Controlling the fight, KB’s biggest advantage is controlling the fight. It helps you control where you want to fight at, you get a party giant, KB it around until you can keep it in a place where you and your party are safe from anything else and can focus on just the party giant, if you can’t find an empty spot at least a lass dangerous spot, but you can usually get an empty spot. It goes down fast no one gets hurt, every one is happy,

3.STUN
I.Stun. Not much experience with this out side of sub warlock with my 1 hander (I did have an axe warrior but didn’t get very far with him), but it with KB and sleep (should you be sub warlock) give you 3 ways to stop an attack on some one, and time to hit it, advantage to stun over KB, is that depending on the party you can keep the creature where its at instead of bashing and chasing it every where because the party can’t stay under control.

BUFFS
1.Pain Quota is one of the best buffs. 35% less damage taken even if it’s distributed out the other people only get like 10 damage big woop. It will help keep you’re people alive mainly. USE IT. Even the damage the ints get aren’t enough to matter to them. Only problem I have with this skill is how short it last, and sometimes forget to rebuff, most of the times I catch myself and rebuff, wish it lasted longer though.

2. Fences

can’t say much here, as I don’t have a warrior high enough to use one, my 1 hander is almost there, just sp farming, at 30. But as a past wizard I have to say this skill combined with pain quota saved me a lot when jobbing, I could tank out multiple packs of 5 star spawns and nuke them all dead, and out tank 2 warriors and Chinese str, I’ve tried the same fights with out the fences and just quota and I died a bit.

3. Vital Increase. Now when to use this differs, if you are in a party that lacks damage dealers then don’t use it, or if you are solo don’t use it. But if you have good damage dealers you should use this skill, and keep them alive since you don’t do that much as it is, not much is lost by dealing less and being able to tank more.
NUKERS/X-BOWS
I.dmg the mobs, you deal the most dmg. Atk the mobs the tanks are tanking ONLY. You’re NOT allowed to atk any other mobs
ii. DON’T LURE ANY MOBS!!
iii. Stand within healing range of tanks, you DON’T belong on the frontlines
iv. DON’T MOVE!!
v. always have backup NPC gear, just in case your gear gets dmged
vi. If tank/s kb mobs out of atking range don’t atk the mobs let the tank/s
HEALERS/BUFFERS
I.Keep the party alive/full of mana DON’T FIGHT!!
ii. If someone goes out of range let them die/run out of mana
iii. If someone is rude let them die/run out of mana
iv. Don’t leave the party area to res or heal amyone
v. stay put don’t move
vi. If tank/s kb mobs until they’re out of healing range don’t move let them die
OVERALL
If you do this your party will level very fast, and rarely die, and you can farm a lot of gold quickly and safely.

Captain Ivy Quest in silkroad online

keywords:

Regardless of your race and high level; you can do the Ivy quest. The reward might seem pretty awesome (to some people). So I decided to make a formal guide that will explain the steps needed to successfully complete the quest. I plan to put those zerk scrolls to good use!

Shahad’s Mail:
The Ivy Quest begins in Sarmakand with the Hunter Guild. Speak with Shahad and he will give you a letter to deliver to Constantinople, you must ride a horse or walk to Constantinople and deliver the letter to General Ratchel, who stands south of the Stable, at the Military Camp.
REWARD:
21,000 Exp
2,700 Skill Exp
6,000 gold

Ivy 1
Recommended level: 25
Speak with General Ratchel again to accept the next quest, she will tell you how to capture a Closier Informant. But before you go running off to find these, you must go do Adventurer Demetri to get the traps. He stands to the right of storage in Constantinople.

Demetri’s Quest:
You need 20 vine stalks. You get these from killing Evil Order Soldiers at Haran’s Tower. You need about 45 small knives that are dropped only by the soldiers. To turn these into vines you need to run to The Pond Ruins because it only works disjointing here. You can disjoint these like you did with the charms at the Taoist quest (right-click on the items). If you do not get 20 vines, just go back and kill more soldiers for more small knives. After you collect 20 vine stalks, run back to Constantinople and speak with Demetri, he will give you your reward and 5 traps.
REWARD:
60,000 Exp
8,000 Skill Exp
15,000 gold

Ivy 1
Recommended level: 30

Now with the traps you got from the Demetri’s quest, find the Closier informants that are in front of the Amphitheater. They will have the yellow/orange quest icon above their heads. Right click a trap so it’s laid on the ground (red kind of net thing) you need to lure an Informant into the trap, easiest way is to punch it (without weapon) then run over your trap so it follows you. When you have one Closier informant imprisoned, run to Constantinople within 30 minutes. Running, not riding on a horse or transport because: On the way Closier Guardians spawn. You must kill 15. They spawn approximately every 60 seconds. After the 15 are killed, run into the city and deliver the quest to General Ratchel.
REWARD:
24,000 Exp
2,800 Skill Exp
5 Repair Hammers

Ivy 2
Recommended level: 35

- Must be in an Exp / Item share party with at least 2 members (leader and a friend)
- Party leader must have Ivy 2 quest.
Talk with General Ratchel to get Ivy 2. You get 5 horns when you accept. Now, you use these horns at Harans Tower, Cleopatra’s Gate and Amphitheater. There you must activate a horn at certain places (usually at the entrances, you may fail some times). A Closier Leader will spawn if you activate the horn in the right area. Kill the monster, it will drop a sign for each party member in the proximity, however only the leader needs the item. When the leader has all the signs from monsters of the 3 places, then you kill Punishers at the Amphitheater until it drops Punisher’s Blood.

When you get the Punisher’s Blood, right click it and all 3 stones will become a key. With this key you must go to Evil Fortress into the center of the ‘Den’. When you stand here, all other party members must be away from you so their faces are 100% blue on the party bar (only if they are not fighting with you, otherwise you should stay near each other so that you both with teleport). You now right click the key and you will be teleported to a private area. Captain Ivy will spawn after a short time in your proximity. Within 20 minutes you must kill Ivy. After you kill her you get a hair. A blue teleport diamond thing will appear, you will be teleported, go to Constantinople and deliver the quest to General Ratchel and receive your reward.
REWARD:
40,000 Exp
4,000 Skill Exp
20 Memory of Red Hair (zerk scrolls)

Misc. Info:
-With successful quest you get 20 Scrolls, which will completely fill your berserk immediately when it’s empty and not in use.
-If your party member has already completed the Ivy 2 quest, he/she can teleport with you to fight Captain Ivy.
-If you die while fighting Ivy, you can still complete the quest if your party member(s) kill Ivy.

Silkroad Beginner’s Guide: Choosing your Weapon and Build

keywords:

Silkroad has a very fluid skill system.

This means a lot of freedom in weapon and stat/skill choices, which sometimes means you get a lot of freedom in screwing up your character build.

So here’s a little guide to different build types you can follow in Silkroad. Of course this is only a guide. You’re always free to experiment.

Legend

I will be using the folllowing words in the guide with the presumption that you know what I mean.

STR build - majority of player’s stat points are put into STR

INT build - majority of player’s statpoints are put into INT

all STR - all of player’s stat points are put into STR

all INT - all of player’s stat points are put into INT

2:1 - player’s stat points are put approx. twice as much in STR than INT

1:2 - player’s stat points are put approx. twice as much in INT than STR

1:1 - player’s stat points are put approx. equally into STR and INT (aka Balance build)

Sword - One handed magical weapon

Blade - One handed physical weapon (previously known as Dagger)

Spear - Two handed magical weapon

Glaive - Two handed physical weapon (preiouvsly known as Big Sword)

Weapon skills in Silkroad- skills in one of three weapon skill trees (Swordmanship, Spearmanship, Bowmanship)

Force skills - skills in one of four force skill trees (Cold, Lightening, Fire, Heal)

Mastery Level - level of a certain skill tree, i.e. Cold Mastery lvl 12

Stat Points: Basics

When a player levels, s/he is given 5 stat points.

2 of those stat points are automatically allocated for you, 1 to STR and 1 to INT.

3 remaining need to be allocated by the player.

A stat point to STR will add HP, Physical Attack, Physical Defense

A stat point to INT will add MP, Magical Attack, Magical Defense

Builds: Basics in Silkroad

For obvious reasons, Blade and Glaive users usually do STR builds.

Sword and Spear users do INT builds.

Bows can go both ways.

You can also do a 1:1 build.. more on that below.

STR builds in Silkroad:

Your main damage skills will be your Weapon skills.

You will have a harder time levelling than INT builds.

In my opinion, STR builds should put close to all their stat points into STR.

The 2:1 build is not recommended.

Benefits for adding to your INT aren’t worth the stuff you’ll be losing for not putting it in STR.

When learning Force skills, particularly the first row ones that add damage to your weapon, it is usually best to keep them at lvl1 or 2, not higher, for better MP efficiency.

Also, consider levelling Bowmanship to lvl10 in Silkroadeven if you are not a Bow user. The Bowmanship tree has an accuracy passive skill at lvl10 which is beneficial to all STR builds. The physical attack passive in Spearmanship is also obviously beneficial to all but it is only 1% at level 1 so it is up to you to determine if it’s worth it

If run speed is important to you level Lightning to lvl12 for Wind Walk skill lvl1

INT builds in Silkroad:

Your main damage skills will be your Force skills.

You will level fast, but will find it hard to beat the high HP of STR builds in PVP later on.

All INT and 1:2 builds are both viable choices. All INT build will do more damage but 1:2 build has more survivability.

Balance (1:1) builds in Silkroad:

Balancing INT and STR is not impossible, but unless you spend a lot of time farming SP the build will be difficult to do well. The benefit of concentrating on STR or INT is that STR builds can concentrate their SP on Weapon skills and INT builds can concentratet their SP on Force skills. As a Balance build you will have to put as much SP as you can into both in order to make the best of both worlds.

Guides to Common Builds in Silkroad

Blade - STR Build

Stat points: All STR

Skill Trees:

Swordmanship: Concentrate on Chain Sword Attack series, Blade Force series and the Shield Protection passive. Hidden Blade and Killing Heaven series aren’t really used in PvE but good to have for PvP. Shield Technique is very good for defensive players.

Force Skills: I suggest Cold or Fire. Cold for defensive builds and Fire for offensive.

Cold: Cold Force series, Frost Nova series, and Cold Armor passive.

Fire: Fire Force series, Flame Body series and Flame Devil passive.

Sword - INT Build

Stat points: All INT or 1:2

Skill Trees:

Swordmanship: Concentrate on Chain Sword series and Shield Protection passive. A little bit of Hidden Blade and Killing Heaven also suggested.

Force Skills: For PvP go Cold + Lightning. For PvE go Fire + Lightning.

Lightning: Wind Walk series, Lion Shout series, Heaven’s Force passive

Cold: Cold Force series, Frost Guard series, Cold Armor passive, maybe one Frost Nova and Snow Storm series

Fire: Fire Force series, Fire Protection series and Flame Wave series

Glaive - STR Build

Stat points: All STR

Skill Trees:

Spearmanship: Concentrate on Soul Departs series, Chain Spear series, Cheolsam HP passive. Flying Dragon series just to Flying Dragon-Fly lvl1. Ghost Spear series optional. Fanning Spear optional for those that do a lot of AoE hunting.

Force Skills: Fire and Cold both have their advantages.

Fire: Fire Force series, Flame Body series and Flame Devil passive

Cold: Cold Force series, Frost Nova series, and Cold Armor passive

Also spend some SP on Lightning and Heal for their passives. Both are learned at mastery lvl10.

Spear - INT Build

Stat points: All INT recommended since Spearmanship gives HP bonus passive. 1:2 ok too.

Skill Trees:

Spearmanship: Cheolsam passive, Chain Spear is good to learn.

Force Skills: Lightning highly suggested. Thunder Force series, Wind Walk series, Lion Shout series, Thunderbolt series, Heaven’s Force passive.

Bow - STR Build

Stat points: All STR

Skill Trees:

Bowmanship: Concentrate on Anti Devil series, Arrow Combo series, White hawk and Blue Hawk, Break Heaven series, Mind concentration passive.

Force Skills: Cold highly suggested. Cold force series, Frost Guard and Cold Armor. lvl1 Frost Nova-Wind can save your ass in bad situations.

SP Farming in Silkroad

SRO skill system is such that SP is nearly as important as XP in developing your character. As you level higher in the game, if you do not slow down XP to farm SP, you will find that your skill masteries aren’t able to keep up with your character’s levels.

This comes down to a matter of choice.

You don’t HAVE to farm SP at lower levels.

You will be farming SP at some point, however, to be able to level all the masteries and skills you want.

If you farm SP at low levels, it means you will have enough SP to learn most of the skills you want at every step of the way.

If you wait til your char is max level to farm SP, it means your char will be sort of gimp all the way there, but you will get there faster.

The rule of thumb in farming SP is this:

Greater the difference between character level and mastery level, greater your SP gain in relation to XP.

For example, let’s say you’re a Blade user in Silkroad. If your character level is 18 and your Swordmanship mastery level is 18, you will get much more XP than SP per mob. (I forget the exact ratio. I’ll update if I come across it.) On the other hand, if your character level is 18 but your Swordmanship mastery level is 9, you will get much more SP than XP per mob in Silkroad.

(Note the following:

1. The highest amount of SP per XP you can get maxes out at a char. lvl / mastery lvl difference

2. The lvl difference applies to which ever is the highest mastery level of all the skill trees. If your Swordmanship is lvl9 and Fire is lvl10, your highest mastery level is 10. )

If you want to never have to worry about being short of SP ever again, Korean guides reccommend you farm at least 20,000 SP in all. This is an extreme that I don’t suggest for most of you to follow unless you’re seriously hardcore in Silkroad.

I’ve been farming SP since around level 17 and I plan to do so until I’m 20 because the Bandit outpost is a great place to farm. I’m now level 19 and I only have around 2500 SP… you can imagine what getting 20,000 would be like. :shudder:

Silkroad Fire Big Sword Guide

keywords:

Since a lot of people are thinking of a power fire/big-swordie in SilkRoad, but don’t really know how should build one (or rather use a lot of forum space for the same BLOODY QUESTION—–j/k), I’d take some suggestions and ideas from the Chinese communities and share it here.

Power is obviously the major stat point here in this build, but is it advisable to go full power/no mental?

Full power has a lot of advantages that’s not apparent in low levels, but the advantages grow as you advance into high level. You got more (a lot more) hp, more physical power, and very good physical defence; however you’ll have low mp and poor magical defence, and your imbue will not be strong. Full power lacks in low level because you use active skills more (i.e. imbue and attack skills) which constantly needs mp. In high level, however, your passive skills (+attack) will have a big impact because you have high attack power (note that +attack skills are all percentage increase), and high level really don’t have to worry about mp as much, so in the end full power pays off in SilkRoad.

So it’s no good to put points into mental?

Well that’s a hard question. Mental early is good for leveling, so it’s not that bad. Some people also report that some mental points(2 power/1 mental or 3 power/1 mental) does around the same damage (with imbue and not including critical) so you’re trading mp for hp. So it’s really up to you. I did 2 power/1 mental for the first 10 level than full power afterwards in alpha and it works fine. There’s really not a definite answer here.

Armor/protector/garment?

Most people go armor for monsters and protector for pk in SilkRoad. Most monsters are physical based so magical defence is not that important. In pk however, protector has better magical defence, run faster, AND saves you a bit of mp, in exchange of a bit lower to your already high defence due to your power build.

Skills in SilkRoad

Well this IS fire/big-sword guide so major skills of course would be spear/fire tree. I’ll look at each skills and comment on it. Keep in mind you’ll earn more sp than you need in later levels (max skill is lvl 60 or something) and you got skill reset so trying out a skill with a few sp is not going to kill you; you just work harder (a LOT harder in higher levels) to get the skill points back.

NOTE: Due to the terrible translation of the skills (hint hint Joymax), I’m going to refer them as first spear skill, second spear skill, etc.

Spear tree in SilkRoad

First spear skill (lvl 5)

Not much to say. Just your normal power skill attack. Penetrate is not that important and damage is kinda low. It’s kinda a filler skill that just helps to chain your attack. Learn it if you want to.

Second spear skill in SilkRoad

NEVER use this skill unless for shows. OK it DOES have its use sometimes when you’re tanking (it does reduce quite a lot of damage as people have tested) but you can’t move or attack while using this. Put a point there just to show off (see the nice little circle thingy I’m doing over there? >_> )

Third spear skill (lvl 10) in SilkRoad

Hits enemies in the front. Do combos in the second and third book. Ok skill but the next one is WAY better. Again learn it if you want to.

Fourth spear skill (lvl 12) in SilkRoad

This is THE SKILL for spear/big-sword users. High power, STUN, hit two times(thus two chances to stun) in book 3, this is the skill you MUST learn. It’s a bit slow however so it can be interrupted. imbue right before you swing to save the imbue time.

Fifth spear skill (lvl 19) in SilkRoad

Area attack skill. Powerful and hit multiple enemies. A bit heavy on the mp side. Still an excellent skill for physical builds.

Sixth spear skill (lvl 24) in SilkRoad

Combo skill. Number of hits increases as the book level goes higher. Quite useful for monsters, ok in pk (ice can interrupt your combo) with imbue quite a good skill.

Seventh spear skill (lvl 31) in SilkRoad

This is a weird skill. It seems to be a range skill but there’s no range in its description. Nor really useful in monsters and useful to get the first hit. In pk however a range skill can damage bows long range so it’s not that bad.

Eighth spear skill (lvl 10) in SilkRoad

A passive increase your hp. Why would you NOT take this?

Fire tree

First fire skill (lvl 5) in SilkRoad

Imbue. Power builds don’t have the mental points to power the imbue so it’s not really that useful. The burn is just extra damage. Keep it so a cast or two won’t take your whole mp bar away. Some people just put 1 lvl into this.

Second fire skill in SilkRoad

Decreases status effect points. Not useful as you can always use pills and you have to carry a shield. Unless you’re doing no items duals, even than I’d say put sp into other skills first.

Third fire skill (lvl 12) in SilkRoad

Increase physical attack power. Essential skill but its effect is not apparent in low levels. Level it after you’ve got your weapon skills leveled.

Fourth fire skill (lvl 17) in SilkRoad

Increase magical defence. Useful in pk and later levels but not the first priority. Get if when you have the extra sp and need to pk.

Fifth fire skill (lvl 23) in SilkRoad

Creates a fire wall which protects form magical attacks; however you cannot move out of the fire wall. You probably won’t have enough mp to get one up and running with the power build, AND you need to move since you don’t have range skill. The above lvl 17 skill should be good enough if you need more magical defence. Not recommended.

Six fire skill (lvl 30) in SilkRoad

Launches a magical firebolt to damage enemies. Since you’re not mental based this skill is useless.

Seventh fire skill (lvl 10) in SilkRoad

Another passive which increase your physical attack by a percent. Again an essential skill but at low levels you can lag this a bit. Get weapon skills first.

Some skills tips about SilkRoad

Most people take lightning for the movement buff or ice for pk advantage and defence. You don’t really need healing tree as you’ve enough hp to tank. Ice is probably a better choice if you have part mental as you’ll benefit from the extra defence in the ice tree.

Level your weapon skill first, most fire skill don’t impact your damage a lot until higher level.

Fire imbue extra damage output is not that much since you’re power build; use it for extra damage, not your source.

Pros and Cons of a power fire/big-sword build in SilkRoad

This build is said to be one of the best build in high levels. You’ve got high hp, high physical power, one of the most damaging skill (the stun skill), a very good area effect skill, and fire attack boost is every powerful in high lvl. In return you have low mp and low magical resistance, and it’s not easy to level in low level because you lack the mp to perform skills.

You can get kill by mental builds in SilkRoad, but it’s not often because mental skills don’t critical, so you can manage your hp better.

If you like to see high damage combos and crazy critical, sometimes one-hit-KO your opponents, this is the build for you.

Silkroad Online Basics

keywords:

General

There are basically 3 important weapon groups in SilkRoad. The shield and 1 hand weapon group, the bow group and the 2-hand weapon group. For each weapon, there will be a very different way of using it. I will be updating this as soon as I experience the other kinds of weapons. But generally, those in the same group are almost the same.

Leveling

At the start, meet the general in SilkRoad. He is very near the west gate, past all the wooden fences in the house nearby. OK, once you have established that, begin doing his quests. I shall not elaborate more on this. After killing the 30 meanings and talking to the general, go talk to the blacksmith.

Now, just talk to him, and then now go to the East gate. You should be level 3 by now. Talk to one of the soldier, you’ll can a scroll floating on top of him. Exit the east gate and keep running straight past the manyangs. Soon you’ll cold gyos. At level 3, it will be quite tough and u may have to rest every 2 gyos but persevere. Once you level up, it’ll be much easier in SilkRoad.

After completing this quest should be level 6. Now, talk to the herbalist, and go kill water ghosts. Note: these can poison you, so buy some cures from the herbalist be4 hand. This quest lasted me to level 8.

Now, run to the west gate, and run along the path to the exorcist’s home .Accept the quest for killing yeohas. Note: both rotten and normal yeohas are able to kill and when you kill yeohas, the bad blood drops out as an item randomly, so it may take u some time to complete this. At level 8, try to find a party cos you’ll need to rest a lot and the party (common distribution) can help u gain some exp while resting. This should get you to level 11.

And now, its off to kill young tigers may want to do the bandit archer quest but I strongly suggest AGAINST it in SilkRoad. Many strong aggressive monster are there and urn leveling speed would not be high. Run along the yeohas path and continue straight. Soon, you will come to a spot where there r many people training. This is where the young tigers .A tip for you, train on the sides of the mountains. Not many people level there, so it is quite a good spawn there. Also young tiger’s are not aggressive so you can sit in front of them if you want. This should get u to level 15.

Now is the time to go kill bandit archers in SilkRoad. Kill them to level 16, then switch to bandits until level 18.now u can go take on white tigers.TAA-DDAA.AND YOU ARE LVL 20 now it is time for you to chg jobs. I won’t offer advice for this cause; I’m still a little confused. When I’m clearer about this, I will update this mini-guide

Stats distribution

Now, I am sure that this is what u guys have been waiting for in SilkRoad. Now, I shall briefly explain to you about the qi and weapon stats. Some people use the 2:1 method, which is every level, you add 2 to the one u like and 1 to the other one. This way, the character would be quite balanced. However, others prefer going either pure power or pure mental. The build that I recommend, however, is neither of these.rather, it is the 5:2 method. Somehow, and this has worked very well for me. You may not need to follow all the methods I listed above though. This r merely suggestions and I don’t really wish to see copies of myself walking everywhere.

And now, I will tell u how to combine Ur stats AND skills together in SilkRoad. I personally am a pure dagger user and thus am concentrating on pure power. For those, however, who wish to do a hybrid, I recommend using the 5; 2 method but note: spear and sword user would be advised to use the 2:1 method in this case, with 2 going to mental. For those who r going to be specializing in the magic skills in SilkRoad, I still recommend at least a 2:1, if not better, a 5:2.NOte: your first key skill, which imbues your weapon with the fire element, depends on the weapon skill (which depend son power), your weapon atk (which depends on your power) and finally ur qi magic level and magic atk. Thus, going mental is definitely a NO-NO.

I have, however met a guy who was specializing in qi and yet pumped pure power in SilkRoad. As I observed, he had trouble in the early levels, not having much weapon skills to boost his magic. at the higher levels however, with his power increasing rapidly, he was able to kill monster with his high qi and power much quicker than I was able to be.(and I must say I kill very quickly)

There are, however, many more ways and I would greatly appreciate it if you gave me more ideas.

Skill explanation in SilkRoad

Koki have read many small topics about skills and the explanations have always been brief and I am sure that not many people understand the main gist of it the first place.

First of all, I would like to correct the misconception that bows users’ r best with ice in SilkRoad. Although it does slow the monster down, it really makes no difference as since SRO has some bugs, some monster r able to still attack you from afar and about the thing about not hitting you when it is frozen, it is the same for melee weapons.

Currently, lightning proves no big use as things like dodge and parry have not been implemented yet. However, its buff is quite good and coupled with the ice buff, is excellent. So, if you don’t kind to wait until the parry and etc have been implemented, go on with lightning .lightning users out there, and do not worry have not screwed your character up.

And now to fire. my favorite element in SilkRoad. Note, however, that if you want to be fire, it is best not be a pure magicker. Being a hybrid with this will be most effective might want to use the 5:2 method here or the 2:1 method. This skill gives burn, which is very effective. In my big sword char, my burn currently reaches up to 100 dmg each time, which is equal to 2 of my normal hits. Couple that with enchanting fire and then using a skill on the monster, say hello to Ur roasted dinner.

Oh and if you want to be pure magic in SilkRoad, choose either lightning fire or ice lightning. ice and fire DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT mix well together.

Some tips in SilkRoad

If you want to save Silkroad money, do not buy pots. Rather use the sit and rest method. Although this might be slower, it is much more effective for first chars. For characters with a high level char to support our might want to buy LOADS of pots. This will ensure that u level very quickly. Do not buy only health pots. Actually, buy more mana pots than health pots.

Items that you pick up in SilkRoad can be very important to your economy. Items that are above level 15 should not be needed, but rather sold in your shops or store din ur warehouse for a later time. Also try to set a time to go around the city to check out the prices of stuff other players are selling. This way, you will not incur a huge loss in SilkRoad.

When fighting, for those who you using elements imbued into their weapons, here is a tip to save enchantment time. Rather than casting BEFORE fighting, whack the monster (in dagger’s case, 2 times) 1 time, before casting the spell, followed by the weapon skill. This will greatly increase your killing efficiency.
