PvP/PK system is one of the most amazing parts in Flyff for me, and I’ve PKed a lot of times. In this guide I will discuss how to be a successful Pker, or to avoid being Pked against your will. But, before I do that, there are a few terms used in the guide I will need to explain.
PvP- Player versus Player
PK- Player Kill
Karma- Can be positive or negative, depending on your actions
Kebaras- Jail Island
In the first section of this guide I will cover the Karma system for the PK server. Channel 4 of each server cluster is a PK (Player Kill) server. You are free to level here as you wish until you achieve level 15. At which point you become free game for Pkers. A Pker is a player who intentionally goes around killing anyone and everyone they see for their own personal enjoyment. If you wish to still play on the PK channel after level 15, beware and watch your surroundings at all times. If you attack a Neutral (Name displayed in white), Or other non-criminal character (Name may be displayed in order of karma from most positive to least Dark Blue, Green, or Light blue,) but do not kill them, you will receive -50 karma, and your name will become yellow or brown, making you a criminal. As a criminal you can be freely killed by anyone above level 15, at no karma cost to them. If you attack and kill someone with positive/neutral karma, you will receive -2000 Karma, and your name will become Purple. If you are killed as a criminal, you have a chance to lose items in your inventory (Including equipped items, and cash shop items.) You will also be sent to Kebaras Island (Jail) if you select the Loadlight or Loadstar options. If you are resurrected by a player, you will not go to jail, but will still have negative karma (unless you had less than -50 karma, in which case you will become neutral again) and be once again free to kill by players. Once you are in jail, if your name is yellow or brown, you may wait for your name to become white again over time or you may kill 50 mobs to receive your karma back. If your name is purple, you MUST do a quest to kill 200 monsters, or your karma will NOT go down. The quest can be obtained from the NPC next to the bank NPC in Kebaras town. After you kill the 200 monsters you were instructed to (Quest mobs are usually 1-3 levels below your current level,) return to the quest giver to have your karma removed. To get off of the island, you must either use a Key Of Kebaras island item, which can be obtained both as a drop from monsters on the island or a quest reward from collecting 30 beads of sin (beads of sin are found in the garden to the left of the bank,) or you may attack a guard NPC when you have positive or neutral karma, die, then select loadlight, and you will be off the island and at your currently saved Loadlight. If you receive a key, (The quest is given from the same NPC who gave you the quest for positive karma) Follow the road north, out of Kebaras town, until you come to a portal, double click your key to use it and congrats! You are now free from jail, and hopefully this experience has taught you a little something about compassion. (The alternative to the Kebaras quests to remove your karma is a Scroll of Forgive, which can be bought in the Cash Shop.)
As a conclusion, the Karma system encourages players not to attack or kill other players as their wish, but it also does not forbid it.
Now that I have discussed and explained Pking and becoming a Pker, I will focus for a while on the exact opposite, PKK (layer Killer Killers) or Bounty hunters. PK bounty hunters are those who go around and hunt those with negative karma. When they kill a criminal, they gain a bit of positive karma, whatever items the criminal drops, and get to see the lawbreaker go to jail. There actually can be pretty good flyff money in Pk hunting. Players drop flyff cash, and items off their bodies, and you may also collect bounty for their head if any has been posted. (Bounty officers are located at the bank NPC of each city, where you can post bounty on the last player to kill you or collect bounty on a recently killed criminal. The minimum bounty that may be set is 1,000 penya. You may also check the bounty list to see which players currently have bounty on their heads and how much.) However, if a player with bounty on their head has since became neutral or positive in terms of karma, you may still collect the bounty, but you will receive -2000 karma for killing him or her. Players may not be Pked in designated safe zones (Towns and Loadlights. Or while flying. If you wish to hunt Pkers, the best places to do it are: Directly outside Loadlights, and at the spawn point from Kebaras Island located at the entrance to Darkon near Carrierbombs.
I will now share some tips and tricks which may be useful in the PK server I have learned over my time here. One of the most important things I can stress for those of you who do not wish to obtain negative karma is be careful with your damage reflecting skills such as Crucio for Psykeepers, and Pain Dealer for Knights, because they will always hit first and you will become a criminal. Also, damage reflecting weapons such as Guardian Axe and Fist of Revenge work in the same way. The Arena outside of Saint Morning is usually used for duels in which both players must agree to duel, however, on the PK server, anything goes and anyone above level 15 is free game. You will not receive karma for killing someone in the arena, however if that person is a criminal, he/she may still drop items and flyff penya. If you kill a criminal in the arena, and he/she has bounty placed on his or her head, you may still collect it from the bounty officer. Another trick if you plan on going on the PK server is to go and get a light blue name. This can be done by first finding a friend that you can trust, whacking them once, and then letting them kill you so you go to jail. You want a friend to do this so that you will get your items back. Once you are in jail, speak to the NPC next to the bank. He will instruct you to kill 50 monsters to have your karma removed. DO NOT DO THIS QUEST!!!! Instead, sit down and wait on your karma to recover until once again you are white named. At this point you can either attack one of the guards, die, and resurrect at the loadlight. Or you may use a key, it is your choice. Once you are out of jail, find your friend again. This time attack and kill him or her, making your name purple, then immediately get on your board or broom and wait for them to come back. Make sure no one else is around, and let your friend kill you. Then go back to jail yet again. This time get the quest to kill 200 monsters. Do both of them and turn them in so that you now have a light blue name and a good amount of positive karma. Now you may leave Kebaras, and you will be less tempting to passing Pkers. You may also get Green, and dark blue names. You should always be careful when you AoE on the PK server, because sometimes players will come on a low level character and get where you are AoEing, making it attack and kill them. Then a high level friend of there’s drops down and kills you and they get your items and flyff money, and you lose 3% exp.
On the other channels which are not PK, the arena can still be used for duels. Both players must agree to the duel and cannot be more than 30 levels apart. When you kill someone in the arena, you gain fame points. The more of these you have the better title you will have. Titles appear ahead of your characters name, and vary with your class. If you run outside of the arena you will forfeit the duel. Classes to beware of in PvP are: Psykeepers, Bow Jesters, Yoyo Jesters, and sometimes Billposters. The use of food is not allowed in the arena during your battles, however, this is only a player made rule and if you do it you won’t get into any trouble, but it’s not recommended. Which they get over it eventually, but using food makes it unfair and less fun so I suggest you don’t do it.
There are many factors which can affect the results of the your PKs and many of them depend on your game experience and luck, what you can only do is to get yourself fully armed, using all of your penya to buy the most powerful items, that’s the foundation of victory.
